The Nevada Division of Insurance Launches
Campaign to Address Misleading Annuities Insurance
Campaign reminds consumers
to “check before writing a check”
6/26/07, NEVADA – The Nevada Division
of Insurance is addressing misleading annuity insurance programs
through continued strong consumer education awareness and
a comprehensive advertising campaign that launched this month.
With the recent increase in some misleading
annuity investment claims in Nevada and nationwide, this new
campaign titled “Bad Animals” simulates conversations
between annuity “sales people” who are really
“animals” underneath the surface. The kitschy
yet serious message encourages consumers to understand their
annuities and clearly know its benefits and risks, as well
as WHO they are purchasing from. Some annuities marketing
tactics can be deceptive and misleading to those consumers
who are unaware of the potential dangers of purchasing from
and unauthorized agent, while others are completely legitimate
– reminding consumers once again to “Check before
writing a check.”
The ultimate objective of the campaign is to
fight this type of deceitful insurance by motivating the public
to do the appropriate research on their investment/annuities
company by logging on to www.nvinsurancealert.com, as well
as calling #1-888-467-4195 to verify whether their provider
is an authorized and legitimate supplier of these products.
The Nevada Division of Insurance’s objective
is to create awareness of these damaging programs amongst
the targeted customers. They are communicating the problem
and providing a resource for accurate information on the website
and through the call center.
For more information please contact 1-888-467-4195.
The Nevada Division of Insurance is located at 788 Fairview
Drive, Suite 300, Carson City, Nevada 89701.
